More than just little decor or slight color tweaks?
I live in Canada and we have drastically different weather between seasons. i like to play up the cozy mountain home in the winter and a casual beach house in the summer (we live in the mountains on a lake so it works with the surroundings). I have a nice shag area rug that I bought in september, but I've wanted a yellow stripe wool rug forever and found one today for $80. Is it silly to have two rugs and swap them out for the seasons? The yellow stripe is definitely a summer style and wouldn't be as warm for winter (and I still really like the shag). And in a 500 sq/ft apt I can't have both out at the same time. I do have space to store them though.
Is it weird to switch out bigger things like that? I'm way over thinking this aren't I?
I don't think that's silly at all! Sounds really nice.
I switch out our duvet; we just use the cover in summer and use the big thick duvet+cover in winter. I switch out other little things like the throws in the living room. I would love to have different rugs to rotate, but we spent a small fortune on our rugs, so I don't think DH would go for buying more of them I have seriously considered having different window treatments to swap out. I have lace on now, but with it being darker longer now, I'd like some more privacy; and I'm sure a thicker fabric would insulate more.
I don't do a lot. But I definitely pull out the throw blankets for the living room, and switch up my scentsy and candle scents to "Winter" ones.
I used to do a lot more - switched out seashells for pinecones, different throw pillows, etc. but I just don't feel like I have the time or energy to care anymore. I'd like to, but I work too many hours now and have to just let some things go.

I change our coverlet for a comforter and with that I change our curtains, lamps, and nick nacks. I would love to change the rug but we just don't have room to store it. Typically I end up making new throw pillow covers for our sofas in the spring. I also change out our hand soaps and my scentsy scents/candle scents. I decorate our dining room buffet and table with every holiday/ season anyways and change out my kitchen towels. Our guest room doesn't really every change.

I don't think it's weird as long as you have enough storage space. I haven't changed a lot between seasons, but I really want to start. I just haven't had the storage before. I really want different winter and summer bedding for our bedroom.
i almost bought winter bedding today, but thought twice because i'm afraid the red would bleed into the white when i washed it and it would be all over. but it was fair isle with moose! how winter can you get?? if i could find a good quality version i'd be all over it, but this definitely was not.
i think i'm going to go back and get the rug. i can't stop thinking about it. it's probably $300-400 originally, but this one was on sale at homesense. i'll never see it again for $80.
I change out a lot of stuff too! Like you, the dead of winter in the midwest is entirely different than the dead of July. I feel like I have to.
I stick with smaller scale stuff (I don't have time for a lot and I hate storing it) but I do it. I know people that get like entirely different decor for the season change here though, so not weird.
I think you should go for the rug! I don't switch out many things for the seasons except I like to bring out my antique snowshoes and display them in the winter. And I might keep my eye out for some nice flannel bedding this year.
I mostly only change the silks/stems that are in vases on the first floor.
However, I really would like to have winter/summer bedding. (This may be lame.) But I really love the PB Winter Bird bedding:
I am seriously considering getting the duvet cover and shams, which is what we have of our current PB bedding, to use in the winter. Maybe a lighter weight down comforter to go in the summer duvet cover, too. Our cream sheets would be fine with both.

Hmm we don't change anything. It makes sense, but we just never have. We live in the Midwest, so our seasons are vastly different but I guess I don't really have anything that makes sense to change? We keep blankets year-round in our ottoman downstairs and pull them out if we're down there and get cold. The fireplace only gets turned on in the winter. But otherwise, it's all the same.
I hope you go back for the rug. It sounds like a great deal for what you want. If I had the storage to swap bigger things out I could see that being a nice option. We have flannel sheets for winter and different dish towels, but besides that I just stick to switching out the mantel and wreaths on the doors.
