I'm on the VSP vision plan through work, and I could really use a new pair of glasses. When I was going through orientation with HR, she said that the Walmart near our office does eye exams.
Anyone ever gotten their glasses through Walmart? Would I have time to get an exam on my lunch hour, you think, or should I go after work so I have more time?

I used to go to a Walmart vision center. It's the same as any other eye doctor, so if you would go somewhere else over lunch, you could fit this in as well. My glasses are for emergencies and late night tv watching before I fall asleep, so I don't care what they look like, but they have nice basic styles.
I did my vision test at Costco, but got my glasses at Walmart. In in Canada, so it could be different, but I got 2 nice pairs, including lenses for $170. I get compliments on my frames a lot.
My friend is an optometrist at Walmart. I believe they do appointments but not sure how long they take. He does not have access to super fancy machines so I wouldnt go there for a serious problem (he would have to refer you to someone else) but I don't see a problem for basic eye exams. I'm not sure on the quality of their glasses but only wear mine at night so that wouldn't bother me.

Yep, I've been there for an eye exam, to get glasses, and to get contacts. Pretty easy. I'd call the store you want to go to to see how busy they are during lunch. I'm sure other people have that same idea, so it might get busy.
Thanks! I called and they said their appointments take about half an hour, so I'll go tomorrow.
I'm not in urgent need, I just haven't had an exam in a while and so I imagine my prescription needs to be updated. Plus my current frames are a little bent from years of use so I would like a brand new pair that fits better.
I only wear them for using the computer and watching TV/movies. Hopefully they'll tell me what my actual prescription is, so I can order a few cheapo backup pairs off Zenni Optical.

I did my most recent exam at Lenscrafters then got major sticker shock when looking at the glasses and lenses. I took the prescription to Walmart to get glasses there. They have a good selection of frames in a wide range of prices and their lens prices are much more reasonable. They said it could take a couple weeks to get the glasses, but mine came back in about 5 business days.
