Yesterday DD's daycare hosted brunch with Santa. These things are usually during the week but they hired a professional Santa that only books gigs on the weekend. So I walked into thing sorta annoyed that I was giving up hours on my Sunday instead of hours of a work day. Anyway....
...as we're waiting for Santa (who was late) one of the fathers appears with a helium tank. Does he start making balloons with it to entertain the kids? Nope. He starts breathing off of the tank and singing Jingle Bells in a high pitched helium induced voice. WTF? A bunch of the kids gather round him and he's all like "look, listen, ::suck on tank:: jingle bells, jingle bells."
I'm starring at him like this :-| and wondering if I'm the only parent around who finds this highly inappropriate. Serioulsy, WTF?
But the owner wasn't in the room at the time and my kid wasn't watching him, so what kind of fuss was I really to make? Plus that's not really my style.
This morning when I dropped off DD I asked the director if it was just me, or whether any one else thought that was a completely inappropriate thing. She 100% agreed and then told me, the OWNER gave the father the tank of helium to go entertain the kids.
WTMF? This makes me thankful that the owner is MIA because I seriously don't trust her judgement. I really like the director and most of the staff that JB is with but the owner makes me want to find a new daycare.
WTH??? i cant even believe some of the daycare stories i hear from friends. ugh. make me even more depressed that we are leaving our wonderful daycare this week

oh no! Why are you leaving?
And, if this had been during normal daycare hours I'd probably be on the phone to CFS right now but seeing as how it was an after hours holiday party I'm trying give them the benefit of the doubt. Well that and the director/teachers agree with me so I know this shit doesn't happen during the regular school day.

There aren't really next steps at this point because K is trying to get out of here ASAP. So I suppose the next step will be researching licensing requirements in Maryland or DC but that's a long way off. For now I'll just talk about how my daycare will kick the ass of the daycare my DD currently goes to.
