SSG, I know you do felt projects all the time, so I figured you'd know. Anyone else?
I feel like this is a stupid question, but does felt stick to itself *all by itself*? I keep seeing these cute felt trees for kids to decorate on Pinterest...
Also, how expensive is felt? I have no idea what a "good deal" in felt looks like...
It does pretty much stick to itself, although I wouldn't count on it actually staying for a long time. But for a play around decorating a felt tree, it should do the job.
There are two kinds of felt - craft felt and wool blend felt. Craft felt is 100% polyester and is super cheap. Regular price at Joann's is 39 cents for a 9"x12" sheet and I think $2.99 a yard for the stuff on the bolt (72" wide). Wool blend felt is more durable and nicer feeling, and thus more expensive. I might spring for wool blend felt for nice heirloom quality ornaments, but most of the time I use craft felt.
Sorry for the book, but we've been all about felt this season!
Ha Ha you know me so well. I just started my felt project of the year. Coffee cozies hand embroidered with Ella's teachers names. I am so predictable! But yes previous posters are correct felt sticks to felt.
