Im all for the parents letting their kids be "themselves' yadda yadda, i had a student one time that wanted to be a boy so bad that her parents let her buy/shop/dress in all boys clothes, down to the boxers. I thought it was cool they let her do that .
HOWEVER i have no effin clue what i would do if my sweet little girl didnt want to wear the frilly dresses id try to force on her.....so i have no say since im not a parents yet....

would it be considered child porn like if it were a boy without a shirt? because, uh...that looks identical to my kids chest when his shirt is off. i think you're reaching with that sentiment.

Probably not. But they're famous, they have to have bodyguards for a reason. And to me, its better safe than sorry. There's a lot of wackos out there. And I'm not saying that it IS child porn, just that I was surprised that it was published and it would worry me, if my family was famous.
So I will preface this by saying that I know next to nothing about pop culture and celebrity kids, etc. I have seen these kids in a few pictures other than this one, obviously, and I always thought Shiloh was a boy. You learn something new every day.
i love that they are letting her be who she is and play with "boy stuff" and dress like a boy, if that's what she's in to. yay for not sucking your child in to gender roles...blah blah blah.
I agree with this completely. BUT, given that they are such a high-profile family, I have always worried a little bit that it's less about letting her be who she wants than it is about Mom making a statement. I would just hate to think that the kid was being pushed in EITHER direction.
It seems like Shiloh would have access to the other girls clothing and would be able to wear that if she chose. My 4 year olD really has her own sense of style and I generally let her dress herself.
As for the publicity, I wouldn't want any pics of my kids all over, nekkid or not. I'd be a lousy famous person hah.
you guys! its a birthday party! where they are swimming! JESUS!
if this were europe, i dont think it would be a big deal in the slightest. we are so weird about "nudity".
Personally, I do agree. I think that if boys are allowed to not wear shirts, girls should be the same. And I do think our country is weird about nudity. For me, its the nudity of a 5 year old that photographers follow around. I think it would be the safer or more prudent option for her to wear a top.
well, i think you're weird for thinking this could be construed as anything other than a young girl having fun at her fucking birthday party.
also, i'm glad that you all don't know the shit that goes on at my house regarding nudity with my youngest, because you'd have a fucking heart attack.

I didn't realize your youngest was followed around by photographers and pictures that end up on the internet?
I have absolutely nothing against nudity, at all. And I don't have anything against Shiloh being half nude at a birthday party. I think it is sad that the thought even crosses my mind that a predator could see this picture, but it does, and that's society today.
Are you saying you wouldn't care in the slightest if pictures of your half nude child ended up on the internet for millions to see?
if an exact replica of the picture above of my child ended up on the internet i would not, in the slightest, give a shit.
We have a ton of pictures of my sister, about that age, on vacation with my parents in Florida just wearing a bathing suit bottom. I think it's one of those things you can get away with at that age.
Also, i just saw something in the Post about a little girl who at age two told her parents she was a boy and now at age five, they were cutting her hair to look like a boy. They are calling her the youngest transgender case. Honestly, I think it is amazing that parents will really listen to their child and hear what they are saying and not just blow them off as if they don't know how they feel. Hair grows back, you can buy new clothes if years down the road your child starts to feel differently. I don't know, it just struck me as pretty incredible that they are letting her/him be who they want to be.

And I suppose I haven't been explaining myself very well. It's not the nudity on the internet, in itself. It's the fact that its exposed to millions and millions of people, that weirds me out a bit.
With Shiloh, I have always wondered how much of her style was her and like others have already said, and how much is she being nudged that way.
I wouldn't want any jackass yanking it over a picture of my child. Which is why I keep pictures of my children as closely guarded as possible.
I get what nic is saying about celebrities being extra cautious. They are in a profession where their private lives are fair game. Including pictures of their children half naked.

I'm pretty sure all I did was walk around naked when I was 4. I remember one time when I was 4 or 5 and I wanted to wear my bathing suit with the bum hiked up my crack soooo bad. I threw a tantrum when my mom made me pick my wedgie.
I do naked yoga in the mornings. Kardashian style.
ETA: I added this just to sort of agree with the sentiment that I think people in general are sort of weird about nudity. I hope if I have a kiddo that they can be as comfortable in her own skin as Shiloh seems to be.
I don't think she's being a AW, the mom. My 4 year old has a seriously eclectic fashion sense, and sometimes it's a little odd but I let her dress how she wants. If I make her change you'd know, because she's be pouting and/or sneaking along the outfit she wanted to wear to strip down and change when we reach our destination ( like our in laws or grandparents, not grocery store hah). I could see her deciding to dress boyish and that would be that hah. She's super girly though, I don't know where she gets that from.
FFS people. The point isn't about nudity in general. It's about nudity when that picture is being sold to thousands of media outlets.
I also wouldn't say that it's about Angelina promoting her image. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in and say that if I had a child, my hope would be that she is as free spirited as Shiloh is. I never said that I would hope that her picture would be posted on the internet, but perhaps you weren't implying that.
