This never happened with my first! I'm four months pp and my hair comes out by the handful! When does it end? Does anything make it better?!!!? Will cutting it shorter make it any better? It's so bad

Yup I'm in the middle of the hair loss stage too... Boo! If it follows my last pregnancys pattern it will stop around 7-8 months. Nothing I ever did stopped it... Just gotta roll with it

Four months pp was when it was the worst for me. I think it let up after a month or two. It's something to do with the pregnancy hormones not letting you shed hair and then when those hormones go away, you start losing hair again. And the hair that would have naturally been shed in those nine months comes out all at the same time. I'm not explaining it well, but the point is that it doesn't matter how long your hair is, it will still happen. It sucks, but it will end.
Mine seems to be getting more normal lately at 6m pp
I got my hair cut at 5months because I was so sick of finding 14" gobs wrapped around everything. 5" is far more manageable and somewhat less disgusting when pulled out of food
I'm honestly surprised that I have any hair left at this point. Chunks come out in the shower and while I dry my hair. I've considered keeping the hair to make myself a wig. Mine started about 3mo pp and hasn't stopped.
9 mo PP here and mine has never stopped. It's STILL coming out in chunks in the shower. I am so so so sick of it! I'm going to get it cut short again (it's about 10" now), like gibbinator said at least shorter strands everywhere are easier to manage. We EBF, I wonder if it will stop when I wean? One can only hope....
I was just coming in to ask about this! DS is 9.5 months and I am *still* losing hair. I expect to be bald any day now and I am so sick of it. It started around 4 months and right now it isn't as bad as it was. I am very ready for it to be over.
Mine was really bad. I lost about an inch of hair all around my hairline. It is finally growing back in and now I have "bangs" that were never cut-- just the regrowth. Most people don't have it as bad as me though (my hairdresser was shocked) so I'm sure you'll be fine...I did find that cutting it shorter made a difference-- it seemed like less hair and it made what was left look fuller.
Mine happened around months 4 + 5. It was really bad. Now at 7 months pp, it's growing back in and I have little bangs that are really annoying. I try to sweep them into the rest of my normal-length hair, but it doesn't really work.
