Long story summarized into one sentence: Lack of communication on their part.
Slightly longer version: They rolled out an extremely buggy new version with no warning. Posts were dropping, stuff was taking minutes (literally) to load, post counts went wonky, etc. People started complaining, emailing, etc. Radio silence for at least a week. Then when they did communicate - they threw a "third-party vendor" under the bus for their problems. Then they started some random user-blame/shame issues with ML. People were ... um ... less than thrilled. So we switched. This format is faster and much more feature-rich. And there's a new version on the horizon as soon as Ellie recovers from having her daughter.
They rolled out a new "format" on the bump and it was terrible, tons of glitches - some people could not post at all, some could only reply....there would be no new posts for a day and then all of a sudden 100 would appear at once.
they went ahead and put it on the nest anyway even though everyone complained. it sucked, didn't work, we could hardly communicate with each other because it was so glitchy.
this site was created as an alternative and we mostly moved here. No annoying pop ups or crazy ads that make it hard to even see the screen. really good service here when there is a problem, way easier to use and we are allowed to swear, post links to whatever we want, etc.
All of what everyone else said. The thing that did me in was they rolled out this "feature" where you could link posts to FB for all to see. A riot just about ensued over privacy issues, people not wanting their nest life to interfere with IRL etc. The Nest Gods tried to justify it for weeks, then finally took it away. I just feel like the Nest Gods took too much liberty with it's users.
They also tried to link people's personal FB pages to posts (something along those lines) making TN less anonymous. They took it off after a week of complaints, but a lot of of people had already bailed and never came back.
I resisted for a long time thinking people would come back, but finally jumped ship when I realized I didn't know anybody on TN anymore. There are some that stayed behind and a few that post both here and on TN, but for the most part it was indeed a mass exodus where most of us moved over and never looked back.
