I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the Ergo deal posted below. However, I really like the idea of being able to front forward-carry in the Beco carriers, and wonder if getting an Ergo would feel restrictive.
Does anyone have an opinion between these two types?

I have both and have only used the FF carry in the Beco 2x. It has never felt good to either of us, so we never used it beyond the 2 experiments. FWIW, I like them interchangeably at this age, but much preferred the Beco when J was under 5 months old.

The Gemini has a narrower seat than the Ergo, which means it won't support a toddler quite as well. I tried a Gemini, that was a gift for my sister, when my daughter was 18 months and it was not as supportive as the Ergo.
On the other hand I used the Gemini when my niece was < 3mos and it worked really well. With my kids I didn't use the Ergo until they were > 5 mos.

I found the Beco much hotter in the summer than my Ergo Sport. Forward facing is not necessary (just use hip carry or wear them on your back). I just don't think it offers the support they need even in a carrier like the Beco. Plus it just feels awkward.
I own both and LOVE them both. I have used both with 2 kids and never did forward facing --- not good for them according to some peds. That said, I prefer the Becco when my baby is smaller/younger -- the infant insert is already built in to the Becco. I prefer the Ergo as my kid gets past 6-7 months age. DD #2 is 13 mo and I still carry her in the Ergo a lot when we go grocery shopping, walk DD #1 to preschool etc... and she weights 21 pounds and I have no back pain.
