I remember someone talking about taking your pump somewhere to get tested. Where can I take my breastpump to be tested?
I have the Medela freestyle I used with DD. I'm assuming it still works. Should I plan on buying a new one for this baby? I just looked at my old emails. I paid $327 for the freestyle.
dori you may want to wait b/c according to the affordable care act effective to any new plans after this past august your medical insurance should cover the cost of a rented breast pump in full

I forgot to ask, do you have any reason to think your current freestyle won't work? Assuming it's in proper working order there is no reason to get a new pump. I would sterilize pump parts again since it's likely been in storage a while.

No, I'm thinking it will work. But it would be good to know if it's really working fine. I would hate to wait on the last minute to find out. Then I'll have to buy something that's not on sale.

Good to know.
Mine only covers a manual pump (~$40) and has to be purchased from a Durable Medical Supply Co.
I talked to my insurance in September (my new plan started September 1) and mine does not.
Not new plan due to open enrollment, new plan like changes to the plan itself (the contract of the plan)
Like for eg our new plan starts 1/1/13. But I wont qualify for the paid breast pump b/c there have been no changes to the plan contract administration itself.

I have Blue Cross and they covered mine as a purchase from my local pharmacy. All I needed was an RX from the pediatrician. It was also a really good Medela pump not a cheapo one.
