How much does your kid drink at DC? C starts on January 2 and I literally have no idea how much BM to send since he's had like 3 bottles ever in his life.
I am slightly worried because the one time we left him with MIL, she gave him a 3 oz bottle and said he was still hungry so she gave him 2 oz after that. But that may have just been a weird one-off, and that was awhile ago.
He seems kind of like a snacker lately--like he nurses for shorter periods of time, but more frequently.
Some people are also of the idea that the only thing to do with a cranky baby is feed him. This can definitely be an issue at daycares, too. Most bf babies end up around 3-4 oz every 3 hours, but some will go a bit higher.

Yeah, usually he will eat and then just stay latched and suck without swallowing for awhile. I think it's a comfort thing.

Which is not a problem when he's with you! DS will still just hang out at the boob for an hour when I've got time. It's only a problem if he finishes his bottle and instead of trying a paci or something else, the assumption is just that he's starving.
Dd gets 3 3oz bottles each day. The daycare staff feed her upright and kinda make her work for it. They also burp and take breaks after every ounce to allow time for her to digest. It seems to be enough so far.
She's also been waking to feed once per night, so factor that in.

Yeah, I'll have to warn DC! He would seriously stay latched and sucking 24/7 if he had his way. Thankfully he is getting more interested in the pacifier lately.
We are formula feed during the day, so it may be different. DD started daycare at 14 weeks and she was taking about 6 ozs every 4 hours. (So 2 feedings at daycare). Now she is 4 and 1/2 months and she is taking 8 ozs at each feeding, still every 4 hours.
When DS started I sent 5 three oz bottles and one 2 oz bottle. He got 3 oz about every two hours. Typically one bottle came home but not always. I think they tend to overfeed him a bit but even so, for him the Kellymom suggested amounts were just off.
So this morning daycare asked me when I was going to start giving her 4oz bottles. They said she still seems hungry after they feed her...I assume this is because her brain hasn't gotten the signal that her belly is full. I really am afraid of over-feeding her! My milk is too precious and I don't make a ton extra. But I also don't want her to starve.
