I am still rocking to sleep at 9 months, and I've created a monster by doing so. See my sleep training post below. I think 11 weeks is too young to cry to sleep, but don't wait too long like me!!!

We did CIO at 4 months so that J would go to sleep at night on his own. I still rocked for naps until 5.5 months when we did CIO to get him to go to sleep on his own for them. Up until that point, I rocked or nursed to sleep. 11 weeks seems young, even to me, for them to put themselves to sleep if they are not typically easy to put down.
I think this happened to DD the first month she was at daycare, and they would lay her on the floor in a boppy pillow (is that what it is called?) and she would fall right asleep and then they put her in her crib. Now they seem to be transitioning her to her crib vs. the boppy and she is starting to fall asleep on her own.
I would ask them to rock her or help her transition so she is not crying in the crib. I know they have other kids to care for, but they are also there to care for your child. And they should respect your wishes, within reason, for trying to soothe her before putting her in the crib.

we always put our babies down drowsy but awake - so they'd learn to drift off on their own... so it was happening from pretty much day 1 - with some bumps in the road with teething, etc- but in general, all 3 of mine were always good at going down on their own --- we followed Babywise from birth on, which has made them all great sleepers.
white noise machines are a great thing... when they were infants they had light up mobiles they loved to look at when going to bed, etc.

DS started daycare at 6 months. They had him falling asleep on his own (with under 5 minutes of fussing) within a few weeks. At first, they tried to rock him (but he refused) so they patted his back. My daycare won't let the kid cry longer than 5 minutes w/out going in to pat/rock them to sleep. I am also pretty sure they won't do it that young at all (I see them rocking the younger babies to sleep).
Now he is 13 months and all they do is put him on a cot and say "night night, put your head down" and he goes to sleep! (he does not do this at home).

This was very similar to us. From day 1, we put them down drowsy but awake so they never knew rocking to sleep as an option (and we got incredibly lucky).

It is so interesting how different babies are re: the drowsy but awake thing. I don't know if that was ever state for DS lol. It was either wide eyed awake or passed out asleep. I remember trying to put him down drowsy but awake and it just resulted in screaming as loud as he could.
5 months, 5 and a half months. I started making an issue of it with naps and it worked and then just transitioned to bedtime. I still nurse him immediately before bed but if he is not asleep he still goes in the crib. 9 nights out of 10 he falls asleep on his own.
But to be honest it kind of happened naturally. I put him in his crib to see what would happen and he started just Falling asleep. I think he was just ready. Daycare still rocks him to sleep or lets him sleep on one of the teachers so they were no help lol.

Mine just turned 7 months and we're still rocking almost every time (bedtime and naps and nighttime wake-ups). I don't mind it that much but we are starting to discuss sleep training.
Mine is 18 months and we still aren't there yet. I have to lay with him until he falls asleep and then transition him to his crib. I don't mind though bc I barely see him during the week due to my work schedule.
