I'm not really a regular, but a lurker on another board. We just bought a pup tonight, and my DH hates all the names I've picked! Anyone have some ideas? I don't mind the idea of a winter/Christmas-y name, but I'm definitely not limited to them. My husband thinks all my names sound like kid names. Thanks. ;-)
I like picking names from songs (Layla, Roxanne, Beth, Jenny, Caroline (Sweet Caroline, buhm buhm buhhhh) ....) because then I always think of the pups when I hear the song!
How adorable! Most of my pets had names when we got them and we felt they suited them and didn't change them. I'm probably not good help in the name dept.
We bought her from a family who runs a farm and makes organic yogurt.. so, we're not exactly contributing our money to pet stores or puppy mills. We've been looking at our local shelter for almost a solid year. The good dogs we see are always gone in a snap, and, especially with this breed, we would prefer to raise her from a pup around our children. (We have a 5 year-old and 3 year-old)
As far as her personality is concerned, she has the SWEETEST temperament! She was the most affectionate of the litter, (big, gigantic plus to me!) and after about 5 minutes of holding her, she nuzzled in and fell asleep. :) I think she had the most delicate features of her litter mates, very dainty. Hope that helps!

Gem was the first thing that popped into my head. Or... Zoee, Lily (since she's white furred), Sophie, Snowball (cliche, I know lol), Lady, Missy, maybe? I tend to like more people like names. Can't wait to hear what you pick!

Puppy mills and pet stores are concerned about selling dogs for their personal profit and gain...not the animals welfare. A reputable breeder has knowledge about their breed and while may take away some profit from selling their dogs they also better the breed through only selling puppies who are genetically healthy ( known through testing, and showing). A white German shepherd is an automatic disqualification to be shown.
It should not be bred... People who breed them intentionally are also concerned more about money than dog welfare... So..you did actually contribute to the system of greed.
Lastly.. By buying your puppy..you only encourage more litters from this farmer. And take a spot for a dog in rescue.
