We met with the specialist this afternoon and he did confirm the cystic hygroma (growth with fluid) on the neck. He said that 65% of babies with CH do have chromosomal abnormalities. Since my bloodwork isn't back yet, we don't know what we're looking at. To be honest these odds are better than what we thought given what was originally presented to us - to have a 1 in 3 chance of no defect sounds good right now.
If there is no chromosomal abnormality, there is then a chance that the CH will resolve itself and the swelling will go away. He said that there are babies with CH who are born perfectly healthy. However, with a CH there also presents a greater chance of other issues such as a heart defect. Right now the baby is too small to be able to tell anything in that regard.
There is still a chance that I will miscarry especially if there is a chromosomal abnormality, but if there isn't and we get out of the 1st trimester, then the likelihood of it resolving gets much greater.
The baby is still small but seems to be growing (may have picked up a day). It also has a lot more definition whereas last time it looked like a blob. We can see the fluid around its body though.
So basically we still don't know what we're dealing with until the bloodwork comes back and then we'll have a better idea. We do feel a little more hopeful than we did going in - I honestly expected some pretty grim news along the lines of "there is no way this baby is surviving you need to end this now."
I see my doctor next Thursday and the specialist again in 5 weeks. Right now we're just trying to stay as positive as possible and be hopeful that we will get good results on the bloodwork. Thank you to all of you who have been thinking of us and sending support and hugs, it means so much. I will be sure to keep updating as we know more.

I am sorry that it is going to take longer to get a clear answer, but so glad they were able to give you some hope. I will keep you all in my thoughts.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this, and I am sure the uncertainty is really hard. But I am so glad that there is some hope that the baby will make it.
Oh how frustrating to have to keep playing the waiting game. Will you get the bloodwork results back between now and your appt next Thursday? I'm so glad you got better-than-expected news, regardless.

I didnt see your OP, but I have to say that you seem to be dealing with this in a rational manner. I am sure inside you are freaking out. Waiting sucks. Crossing my toes for your baby.

You guys are the best, thank you.
For those asking about bloodwork, we will have it back by the time we go next Thursday but maybe sooner. If it comes in before then I am going to see if we can go in for an earlier appointment.....we want to know ASAP.
