My husband and I are done having kids. He is willing to have a vasectomy, but I am still scared I will get pregnant.
We have a friend who just had it done and he had to go back numerous times after the surgery to make sure the surgery was effective. His doctor said the failure rate of vasectomies is mostly from people who have the procedure and never go back to test their semen. (I guess saying the failure rate wouldn't be so high if these guys had known the procedure didn't work.)
So my question is, did your husband have his semen tested after the procedure? Was he given the "all clear"? How much later did you get pregnant?
I don't want to waste the money on the procedure if I am still to chicken to go off birth control....
If we do the procedure my husband would go back for sure! I am just curious if the majority of vasectomy babies are from men who didn't go back. Or is it common for something to change years later.

I haven't gotten pregnant, but H's vasectomy was unsuccessful. Thankfully, he did the follow-up testing, so we knew he wasn't clear and used back-up methods until he had it redone.
