So I know this girl from work. She doesn't work there anymore, now she's in school only. She offered to babysit anytime because she likes babies and thinks Amelia is cute. I wouldn't call her a "friend" in the true sense bc I only know her from work and Facebook but she's sweet and I trust her. Is offering $8/hr an insult?

I want to say I charged $10/hr.
I was watching a little girl a few weeks ago for a mom that I knew that was having a rough time. I was charging her $5/hr because it was good interaction for Lila, and she ended up not even being able to pay that!
Depending on the amount of time she is watching her, I would say $8 is fair for Florida, but I would give her at least $20 if she is coming to your home.

I've heard the going rate is around $10-12 an hour, and when we have our (high school aged) neighbor babysit, we use that as a base pay and then always give her some extra on top of that. But we do have 2 kids. But maybe if she's a student, just looking to make some extra money, she would be fine with that? Could you ask her what she'd like to be paid?
Me... She is the best baby ever she was really tough until she was about 6 months because she.would.NOT.nap and I was exhausted, but now that she can walk she wears herself out and sleeps like a log. I'll talk to the ole ball and chain and see what we can pay ya:)
... Her: Lol! Ball and chain love it! No problem just let me know im here to help you guys out
I'm thinking $10 is a good round #. Was just hoping to get off easy. lol. But I guess like LASIK surgery, having someone I trust come over to my house and take care of my most precious cargo is priceless and not a place to be cheap.
