One of my friends is actually our occasional evening babysitter. It would feel weird to give her cash. She's coming to sit for us next week for DH's work holiday party. Any ideas for a modest gift?
My go-to is usually a Starbucks gift card, since I figure even non-coffee drinkers can get a pastry or a sandwich or a cup of tea there. But Starbucks France doesn't sell gift cards!!!
So... food? wine? Sephora gift card? Gift card to the local Barnes & Noble type store? Anything else? I don't have time to bake anything between now and then.
She's 27 and in grad school, if that helps you at all.
Wine or festive alcohol (peppermint schnapps + hot chocolate mix? is that too low-brow for France?).
Ooo, this might actually work. We just went out for gourmet hot chocolate last week, so I know she likes hot chocolate. And the same gourmet place sells their own mix.
I can get away with low-brow by saying it's a "traditional American holiday drink!"

I think this is a great idea! A B&N giftcard would be great, too (maybe for next time).

Not too late. I can still throw in a bookstore gift card.
