The bedding I love for DD's big girl room is on sale today so I'm getting it.
Do you prefer a comforter or a duvet for your kids, and why? I am a huge fan of having a duvet on my own bed because I can just wash the cover as needed. It seems like that would a plus for a kid--but if she wets the bed or pukes or something I'd have to wash the duvet itself anyway, so I'm not sure how much of an advantage it'd be.
I always had a duvet because we lived in an area with a very cold climate. The duvet was down. In the winter I had a flannel duver cover, and in the summer I had a basic cotton one.
They are SO much easier to wash if they get sticky or gross and the comforter/duvet inside isn't impacted.
I also never had a top sheet, just the duvet and a fitted sheet. I wrapped up in it, and it was so easy to make my bed.
Both kids have duvets. DS actually won't let me put his on anymore. Prefers just the white down comforter. He gets to hot. Even in the winter when he room gets very cold. When he was younger and wet the bed the comforter still would be gross of course.
DD doesn't seem to get her bed dirty so it is a non-issue. She seems to like hers.
I can't answer, as DS is still in his crib, but I've been comtemplating the same thing. I found a duvet cover that I love for DS's big boy room, but DH says that he thinks duvets for little kids are weird. He says it'd be too heavy for DS to move around. I was wondering what other people have for their kids.
The kids have quilts in the winter and just blankets in the summer. Honestly, we have a duvet on our bed and I can say from experience that the barf and pee go right through to the down comforter... Really either will work, just make sure that it will fit in your washer and dryer

My kids both have down comforters. We keep the house cold at night. They are pretty cheap ones from amazon, so I don't worry about ruining them. If they last five or ten years, i will be happy. So far they have only been washed once or twice each, and for pee accidents, not barf.
