Happy Friday! I was randomly wondering about something this morning and thought I would take a little survey.
When/If you cook meat at your house, how do you dispose of the container that the raw chicken/meat/etc came in? Do you throw it right into your kitchen trash? Or do you wrap it in plastic (or something) first and then dispose of it?
I always put the containers in plastic grocery bags first (I always save them and stock up on them) and then I put those bags staight into our actual trash can in the garage. I always feel like they will smell if I put them in the kitchen trash.
So then I was thinking how apparently there are plastic bag bans in other states, like Seattle, where my sister just moved. So if I lived in one of those states, I couldn't wrap up the gross meat containers like I'm used to doing. Plus, I wouldn't even have access to any plastic grocery bags, and I feel like I use them for SO many things!
So I was wondering how other people dispose of those containers but also if anyone else uses plastic grocery bags as much as I do. I ALWAYS need to have them on hand!
I always just throw the meat wrappers right into the trash. I don't wrap them in something else.
I do keep all my plastic bags though as I use them for numerous things. Mainly to pick up after my dog outside. So we go through a lot of bags. If I live somewhere that they were banned, then I guess I would have to buy those biodegradable ones.
I do usually put the meat bags into a shopping bag and tie it before I put it into the trash, because our trash can is in the cabinet, and I feel funny about the bacteria in the air in there.
I save my grocery bags for dog walks so I always have some on hand, but I bring them back to the store regularly.

I don't cook meat anymore, but when I did I'm pretty sure I just tossed the packaging in the trash. I do on occasion still prepare seafood, and if there are any shells, skin or wrapper I will put in a plastic bag and take directly to the outside can.
I use plastic bags for cleaning the cat liter box or a couple miscellaneous tasks, but for the most part, I wind up with bags that have to be taken back to the store. I try to remember my reusable bags so I don't end up with them, but I suck at remembering until I am in line to checkout.
I always ask the bagger to bag meat seperately - and I store it (in either the fridge or freezer) in the plastic bag. When I go to cook it, I open up the plastic bag, open up the meat container, and then wrap the container in the plastic bag before putting it in the trash.
As for plastic bags, I feel like we always have an obscene amount. I'm frequently recycling them.

I throw it in the garbage. Our kitchen garbage is so tiny, I have to take it to the "big" garbage almost everyday anyways.
And I HOARD plastic bags. They are perfect for taking stinky diapers out to the outside/"big" garbage, using in the cars as garbage bags (which husband needs all.the.time.) I use them to carry lunches into to work, I line the kitchen and "nursery" garbage with them...I suppose I could use other things for some of those causes, but I have plastic bags, and in the mean time, I shall use them!

Sounds like you have the same plastic bag mentality as I do ;D
