About two weeks ago I posted about my foster dog, Gabby, being adopted and how I was really upset about it. Well, my foster was returned today and I'm going to keep her!
Giving her up was brutal and it has been a rough week but today the woman who adopted her emailed and said it wasn't working out and could I come get her.
I'm going to try to post a picture here. I've never done it before so I hope it isn't too big.
The woman who adopted her lived in a condo. I guess Gabby was barking when left alone and her neighbor complained. Also, Gabby was growling at people which really surprises me because she is the most laid back dog ever. There were some peeing issue too. Gabby would only pee if walked around and the woman didn't really want to walk her every time she had to pee.
I am happy to have her back but I do feel disappointed in myself that I couldn't help more dogs. I think I'll ask the rescue if I can do transport.
I'm glad that she has such a loving home to return to, since it didn't work out. I always hate to hear about adoption returns, but this worked in your favor. Yay for you!

Hmm. I've never fostered, so maybe I have it wrong, but aren't barking and peeing the kinds of issues that you discuss / pre-screen for before you adopt a dog out? It doesn't matter with Gabby because she's back with you (and it sounds like your home is a far better fit for her anyway), but if you foster in the future, it's something to think about.
But I wouldn't really know if she barked during the day. I work so when Gabby is home alone I have no idea if she is barking if no one is complaining. None of my neighbors have ever complained. I spoke to her twice and she spoke to the coordinator before she adopted Gabby. I tried to cover everything I could think of but if she had specific requirements, she should have asked either of us.

People will say certain things are not dealbreakers on their applications and then change their mind when actually faced with the behavior. I've had issues with dogs barking or growling once adopted who never did those things in my house. It takes them awhile to adjust. We normally try to get people to give them a few weeks.
Regardless, congrats to the OP! I have one foster failure and he is my buddy, I'm so glad we kept him.

Don't sweat it, OP. If the woman wasn't even willing to walk the dog when she had to pee, then she probably shouldn't even own one. Congrats on your new fur baby.
