Hi all!! I am a super old YH "nestie" that doesn't get to hop on these boards as often as I'd like. But I know if anyone knows the answer to my question, it will be you all Our china is made by Waterford. I baby the stuff... handwash and store in the plastic bags in came it. I pulled my plates out yesterday and 1 plate, right in the middle of the stack, was cracked in half. I have no idea how this happened. I know for certain it was never dropped and it certainly wasn't broken when I stored it last Christmas. I can only guess that it was flawed. Does anyone have any experience with Waterford? Anything they might do? Of course, they (and I) have no proof that I didn't just drop it on the floor. My china was all purchased at Dillard's in 2005. Is it worth a shot or should I just cut my losses and be glad I have a place setting for 12 and usually only need 8. Thanks for your thoughts!
If it's an active pattern, it might be simpler to buy it from a Waterford/Wedgewood outlet.
China shouldn't crack like that, but I doubt they'll replace it. I wonder if the weight on the others caused it to break along a weak spot. I keep my in storage bags with dividers.
