To use as nightstands in DS's room. We don't have a whole lot of room on each side of the bed - the door swings open on that wall and I'm really loving these.
The height seems to be on par and the width of the seat is pretty decent, enough for a lamp or to set books on. I'm not really interested in storage space, more so something to balance the bed and anchor the prints I'm going to hang above them.
Am I missing anything? Is this going to be a flop? For my low budget I like the idea of not having to go with a cheap wood option.
I had these picked out, but they're only 18" tall which I think is too short.

I really like the idea. The only 2 things I can think if are: - any cords (lamp, alarm clock) are going to be really visible. - the too might be awkward to set things on. (But you could easily screw a larger wood top on.)

I LOVE this idea. Especially since H and his dad made the bed. At least it would match and would be super easy with the slit in the chair top.
As for cords, I'd run them back behind the bed - that's where the outlet is so it could be NBD.
I love this idea. Also, your husband made the bed??! Does he do custom orders? I love that!
I wish he could make one for you, it's really awesome. It's Ana White's farmhouse bed and I think the materials were around $320. My cousin and her H made a queen sized one for themselves too and trust me, we are not super experienced woodworkers.
Hmmm. He is going to kill me, but I am really loving the idea of adding a flat top. That would be perfect.

i agree, a great idea! I had used a wooden bar stool as my nightstand when I was in college. It was big enough for a lamp and my cellphone. Worked out really well actually.
