Is it me or is it the Aldi chocolate chips?

Gah! DD and I were trying to make this Churro Chex snack stuff. You melt the white chocolate (well, it calls for cinnamon chips, but I can't find that anywhere) and then you mix it with the cereal. The chocolate would not freaking melt. It's like it went from chocolate chips to a burned blob of chocolate in 5 seconds. I tried again with another bag, same thing . This happened the last time I made the same stuff but I got it right on the second try. I can't remember if the second bag of chocolate chips that time were Aldi brand or a name brand. Frustrating!

I'm sure lack of sleep is playing into this somehow. But it's definitely those damn chips!

Ha ha, could be! For now, I'm blaming the chips. Why am I still awake?

I am skeptical of Aldi food...chocolate that doesn't melt? Errrrr, maybe not.

It's the chips. Aldi's chips NEVER melt. Keep in mind though, they sell 2 kinds. They have the real, semi-sweet chocolate chips kind of hidden... and they also have the fake ones which really don't melt.

THANK YOU! The first bag today was white chocolate then I thought I'd try milk chocolate and got the same result. Wow, this is one of the first Aldi busts I've had so far. I've been so pleased with just about everything else I've bought from them.

Are you melting them on a double boiler?

They burned in both a double boiler (well, a glass bowl inside a pot of water) and the microwave.

This is why it pays to be a lazy bitch. When I made it, I put the chips in un-melted and ate it like trail mix.
