I ask because one of my friends husbands is a total tin foil hat kind of guy and he just posted this on FB. So I did a quick search and dang, a lot of sites are talking about it.

I checked with DH and he said to take the story with a grain of salt, as far as the fines go.
I agree it may be a bit of media-hype, but I am sure that the coming price hikes will be a direct result of the Carbon Tax whether the business is allowed to say so or not.
The Carbon Tax to me is no different than any of the taxes levied in the US. While the idea is for business and industry to bear the entire cost of the tax, it WILL get passed on to the consumers in the form of higher prices for goods and services. You cannot tell me that the electric companies, which will have to pay a higher share of the Carbon Tax will not pass the tax on to consumers in the form of higher electric prices. They may not be able to tell you that it is a direct result of the tax, but that's just a question of semantics and euphemism. In the end, it will all be a result of the higher cost producers have to pay.
Last I heard, in QLD, Newman was saying that the Carbon Tax $ was to be a line item on the electric bill just like the GST is. When he said that, Julia was saying bring it on. She seems to think that it will show people the tax isn't that bad.
I don't know where it went after that exchange, but I for one would LOVE to see it broken it out just lie any other tax has to be.
