Yeah, what the pp said. How old is he? They definitely go through their teenage phases where they try to expand their boundaries. Also, when you add a new dog there can be a honeymoon phase where they are super aware of the rules/training/what makes you happy. Once they become comfortable they let their guard down and start testing the rules.

Ahh...yeah...8/9months is a major problem age for most dogs, they tend to turn into little punks lol. Just keep reinforcing the rules, manage around his behavior such as crating again, and soldier on lol.
That's like the annoying teenage years for dogs. It gets better. Adding on to what pp's have said- be consistent, don't let yourself get frustrated with him, and be consistent!
Ditto everyone else - this is most likely puppy adolescence. When we took Quincy to puppy class the trainer said the better we taught his commands before adolescence, the faster he'll fall back in line afterward. Just keep reinforcing, and definitely exercise him as much as he needs. Quincy has been going to day care once or twice a week since he was 5 months old. It really takes the edge off his energy level, and it's good social experience too.
You might also try leaving some interactive toys and things for him to chew. It's possible that he could be bored. Puzzle toys and kongs are great, and we also switch out Quincy's toys every few weeks so he doesn't get bored with the same ones all the time.
