H was telling me how much A loves meatloaf, and in the same sentence said he feels funny giving her cow milk. I guess it makes sense in his head? I suggested almond milk and he's great with that which works for me because whole milk is gross to me (I'm a skim girl) and I love almond, so this way we wouldn't have to have 2 kinds of milk around. Plus so far she has spit out every drop of cow milk from her sippy cup while she loves water. I'll talk to her Dr at her 1 year appt soon but moms who do almond milk, when did you start and is there enough fat and nutrition in it to fill their needs?

We tried almond milk. Her pedi was okay with it as long as we got the unsweetened and gave her a DHA supplement. She didn't really care for it. She eventually got used to cow's milk.

L didn't want anything to do with cows milk either. I made a smoothie out of 1/2 milk and 1/2 strawberry yogurt and she loved it! I weaned her off the yogurt over a 2 or 3 day span and did not have any issues.
Well, I'm a Wisconsin girl at heart, so it's cow milk all the way, but just in case it's helpful, we started with whole milk from about 11 months until she was 2. Over the next year, we went down from whole milk (vile) to 2%, then 1%, until finally on skim. So it's just skim milk now.
We started almond milk (the only milk we keep in the house) at 11 months since we have no known allergies on either side of our family. The girls drink 2-3 "cuppies" of almond milk per day 1)breakfast 2)sometimes lunch 3)bedtime.
It has plenty of good healthy fats in it, enough calories (we do vanilla unsweetened or original for them), perfect in calcium, and all that other jazz. Our girls loved almond milk, but I am sure anything tasted better than Nutrimagen formula.
Maybe he feels funny about the cow's milk since she is still drinking mommy milk and that seems weird to have two animal's milks (not saying you're an animal....oh, you know what I mean.)

I did (organic) cows milk for Beckett, because I didn't think otherwise, as cows milk was all we bought at the time. With Maisy, I had switched to almond milk for myself, so I started her with that, maybe around eleven months. She loves it and my pedi was totally okay with her having it in place of cows milk. She does drink a lot of it, so I feel much better about her having that than all that cows milk. She does get in some other full fat dairy though, like cottage cheese and cheddar.

T is being switched to Almond now. He has a milk allergy so we went to soy but I want to limit how much soy he is getting. He prefers soy to almond but takes almond just fine. It is actually better than soy milk nutrients wise.
