What's on top of your tree?

I'm retiring my tree topper. I think I would like an angel. If you have a tree, do you have a star or an angel or something else? Does it light? Do you love it?

We have an angel but it's a cheapo angel we bought at Rite Aid when we got our first tree together like 7 years ago. It's pretty crappy. I'm in the market for something nicer, but we'll stick with an angel.

We ususally have a bow. But, our tree is a little tall, so this year, it's the ceiling.

I usually put a santa hat on top of the tree, which I think is cute. Lily really wanted a star this year, so I obliged. I like the star, too. It doesn't light, but it's pink and glittery ;-)

I had this amazing crystal snow flake thing I got from Pottery Barn a few years back, it was a little pricey but I figured it would last for years and be worth the money. 'Last year when we were taking the tree down and it broke

Now I have a cheap-o capriz star from Walmart - kinda like the inside of a shell. My initial plan this year was to decorate our tree with soft teals and golds and use some starfish so the capriz tree topper would go nicely. However, I never got around to buying those starfish so our tree is kind boring. Plus I ran out of lights to decorate the bottom of our tree, so it's only lit 3/4 of the way. I planned on buying more lights but umm, when did Christmas lights get so expensive? $20 for 200 lights? Fuck that, our tree will only be partial lit. I thought lights were like a $1 a box or something??

Sorry, I got on a rant about the price of lights.....

I'm a star kind of girl. An angel would definitely not fit our tree decor. In past years I've always used a bronzey gold Mexican star, but this year I found these beautiful glittery 3 dimensional red stars, and I put two of them together from the top of the tree and I love how it looks!

This year nothing as I didn't put up a tree. Too much going on with having a new LO and we are not celebrating Christmas day at our house. Usually though it's an angel. Something cheapo that I bought years ago and just keep using. Maybe someday I will grow up and buy something nice. For now I just keep using the old cheap thing I have.

We have an angel, that I bought years ago from Frank's Nursery(anyone remember that?) she has candles(lights) in her hands and her wings move...love her. She is getting a little rickety and it makes me sad.
