We're working on the half bath all this weekend. I finished painting after H ripped out all the fixtures yesterday, and today was supposed to be tile.
We ripped up the vinyl (the previous owners were so lazy it wasn't even GLUED, they just stapled it around the edges), then H cut the cement backer board to size. That took longer than expected... then we laid it with thinset underneath (which took longer than expected because the sizes seemed off somehow). Now we're arguing about how to lay the tile. H wants to start near the door so it doesn't look so funny. I told him it can't start near the door, because you can't walk on it for a full day and it would get screwed up. Now H is laying on the couch mad and not a single area of tile is laid.
Nothing like a DIY project to start a good fight, right?
Haha, that sounds like something we would do. Can you lay the pattern out in advance to figure out how to cut the last row so that the first row looks the way you want it?

That would be a tough tile to lay, but you did a great job! Definitely a good choice to go with the dark grout...can you imagine trying to keep all those little white lines clean?? Looks good!
You need to start in the middle so it doesn't look off when you glance in the room. At least do a dry lay starting in the middle, then you can adjust slightly (if you have to cut tile on both sides, you might want to adjust so that you are using whole tiles on one side and cutting on the other).
