i have looked through the paint bio, reviewed some favorites in potterybarn layouts (i like that they often tell you which BM paint they used), also checked out the top 10 neutral's post a nestie shared w/me once.
but, other than going and pulling paint chips, trying samples, i thought i would post an inquiry and see what it produced.
so, with a relatively open space, we are going to paint part of it. currently the walls are all Hawthorne yellow (a very creamy, soft yellow), i believe it is by BM. since we aren't painting it all, i want to be sure the tan selected would compliment/coordinate with the creamy yellow.
here is an old picture, that shows the wood finishes of the furniture and the sofa color with the current wall color. the rug ties in the cognac colored sofa with the creamy yellow, and the new curtains we bought (PB blue dawn tie-top silk drapes).
I used classic taupe in a guest room and loved it. It complemented the green and yellow bedding in that room but I would do the paint chip routine to ensure that the yellows and tans in your room coordinated. When I was searching, I put a number of paint chips on the bedding that I thought would work but went through about about 20 samples before finding Behr's classic taupe.

Valspars oatlands subtle taupe. If you look at it online it looks nothing like it does in my house. I have it in my hallway and I think it's the prettiest color. Very calming, clean and crisp. It's almost like a taupe with very light gray in it.
