In older toddler room at daycare, toddler A throws big plastic truck at toddler B, causing gash in forehead that requires stitches. Mom of kid B and daycare says it is an accident. FB commenter won't let up, says kid was using it as a weapon, should be kicked out if it happens again, it wasn't an accident, daycare needs to reinforce not throwing (no crap), parents are doing a bad job teaching kid how to behave, etc.
I'm holding my tongue as it wasn't my kid, but really want to say "If they kicked out every toddler that threw a toy at another, more than once, there would be no kids in daycare" or "maybe Toddler B just needs to work on his catching skills".
And even if it was thrown with malice, it's well known that toddlers and young children have poor impulse control. Of course he shouldn't be thrown out, how ridiculous.

So what if it was intentional? This is totally normal for kids this age. The thing about teaching kids how to behave is that they misbehave 2,638,439 times before they "get" it. It's part of the process.
DS was bitten at preschool at 3.5 (so, old for biting). It broke the skin and he still has a scar. The kid who bit him is one of his best buddies now. These things happen.
If these kids are under 2 (hell, even 3), that's ridiculous.
I wonder what kind of heavy-ass toys they have. The kids in my boys' daycare throw toys all the time. The teachers correct them and show them how to play with them properly (say, "We throw balls, not blocks").
It was a Little People vehicle, so for the age group. It just hit the perfect spot. I don't have any details. It just had me wondering if the commenter is as off the mark as I think.
The facebook commenter is an ass. Kids throw things. It actually teaches them a lot. It is a really great activity. As adults we need to show them what to throw and where to throw it -- a ball outside, a stuffed animal into bed, etc.
If I have a thrower, I remove the heavy toys so no one gets hurt. If I kicked out every kid who threw a toy, I would never have any daycare kids.
My son has given me a black eye while trying to hand me the remote control. I would say he is a klutz but he is just an unbalanced (18 month old) geez its an accident.
