I have several documents. I kind of decided to do this on a lark so there wasn't much planning involved.
Yesterday I started with an opening scene and then let the story tell itself from there. Today, though, I decided to brain storm on a few areas: - Character background - Plot summary - Ending
So far it's giving me a some content to build from.
For the record, I don't really know what the fuck I'm doing.
How does one do it well lol? Any resources or tips on the process, character building, plot?
I feel like I'm just writing facts. I'm not building my character or story well.
This time I'm telling the story of each chapter pretty bare bones and then going back to add descriptions and the like.
This is basicaly what I'm doing. My story so far lacks description and decent dialogue and tells rather than shows EVERYTHING, but I'm just trying to get all the the story out. I hope to have the entire story line written out by the end of week two or three. Then my final word count will be devoted to fleshing everything out. I think...this is my first attempt.
I'm a big scribbler. I have a note book where I've jotted down plot points, and then on the next page I unscrambled them into something resembling a plot. I try to divide the plot into Beginning, Middle, End.
Each character has their own notebook page where I just write down impressions I have, and cross out anything that ultimately doesn't fit.
Now that it's Go Time, I've put the notes in front of me and now I'm just going for it. My characters still need to be fleshed out, but I think I'll "learn more about them" as the actual dialogue comes together and I need to write descriptions.
