Hi there! I'd never heard of this NaNoWriMo thing until seeing this board. I was debating doing it because I'm not sure I really have the time but then today I started writing which was great. 3658 words so far so I guess I'll give it a go.
Because I'd never heard of this before I might have very stupid beginner questions. Is there any big reason to "win" other than the great feeling? If I wrap it up sometime in December, I know I won't technically win on the NaNo website but is there any major difference?
Also, when we submit our drafts for verification at the end of November, what happens to them? Do they go into any kind of public domain? Can random other people read them? (I don't really like the idea of other people being able to read an entire draft of an unpublished novel).
Sorry if these questions sound silly. The idea is great and I wish that they didn't just limit it to November. Getting a kick up the pants to write is something that I've desperately needed.
