I'll be going with the standard what is it, 1,667 a day? I do really well with small goals. As to the rest, nope. I'll be writing a steaming pile of shit so no self publishing here. lol
I'm shooting for 1600 or so a day. That's less intimidating.
I'd LOVE to be a published author. At this point in my life, I'm not sure I could swing self publishing, but if I really thought it needed published I'd consider it.

If your writing is half as funny as your posting, you're selling yourself short.
Daily/weekly word goals - To stay on track to finish (I guess that's the 1667/day), but really it will probably be more like 1000 words during the week and 2000-3000 on the weekends to make up for it.
Publishing goals (self-pub?) -- I would love to publish someday, but I don't think that's very realistic for me.
Contest submission goals -- To actually finish! I've tried twice and failed each time.
Most of my knowledge and resources are RWA (romance writers of america) related, so not sure about other genre. But yes, there are TONS of contests RWA-related where you don't have to be a RWA member to submit an entry.
Golden Heart is the national contest for unpub-ed writers. Local groups hold their own contests as well. Publishing houses (like Avon) have held contests in the past too.

My goal is to write half as quickly as this really annoying woman who works in my office apparently full time as a youth fiction writer. Her stories are insipid, yet she, if we can believe her, produces a shocking amount of pages per week (she swears it's like 3k most weeks).
