I am having trouble with a certain plot point and was hoping someone could help me. In my story, there is this thing called corruption. Every being has it within them. The point is not to get rid of it, but to keep it balanced. Yin and Yang kind if idea. Give into it too much (violence, anger, hatred, greed) and it starts to take over and eats away your soul. But if you give into the light too much it throws you off balance. My problem is that I can't figure out what happens when there is no dark to balance the light... I don't want this to be a story of living pious... It's about balance, among other things. Ideas?
well, I hate perpetually perky people so there's that. You could go with a loss of empathy, of compassion. You know, like the idiots who tell you God has a plan when you miscarry?

I'm having a problem with it being called "corruption" because that word has a really negative connotation. If you want to give the idea that it's necessary but at the same time needs to be controlled, I would personally use a different term. I do like the empathy angle or at least emotion angle--because if gone to an extreme, emotions go crazy, but they are also necessary. Although, granted, that would be the same as the plot of that movie I saw with Clive Owen...

Corruption was the first word that came to mind so I went with it. Good point though... I will try to change it.
