We have a bay window in our living room that's a little too high to be a window seat, but low enough that it needs something or it just looks kind of empty. Normally I use a mercury vase with some fake branches, but am kind of tired of it. I'm trying to figure out what to do after the holidays. What would you do to accessorize it?
ETA: I do have curtain panels on either side now; this was taken not too long after we moved in.
I wouldn't try to decorate it. I would concentrate on making the view the focus, and would downplay the window shelf.
Honestly, I would probably have the window removed and replaced with a regular window, just because bay windows are nms. We are currently house hunting and if a house has a bay window that can't be easily removed it is off the list. The funny thing is that I don't mind them in other peoples homes and it would probably be my first choice of a place to sit or curl up with a book....just not in my house. ;p
I'd leave it too. Those windows are super common here and people just usually buy fun curtains and call it a day. Unless it's Christmas. Then it's a prime spot for trees, villages and whatever other collection.
