We're not Italian, it'll only be me, DH and DS eating and I am fairly inexperienced at preparing seafood, but I thought it might be fun to pay a small homage to Feast of the 7 Fishes. Maybe like 3-4 small dishes.
Is that dumb? Does any have any ideas for what dishes might work for us?

Well you need 7 dishes then right. You could easily take a lb of shrimp and do it several ways, then some actual fish, maybe a crab dip, and a few steamed oysters/clams/mussels (but not a lot of them)
You could combine a lot of seafood in 1 dish so you only have to make a few. A paella or gumbo or some other fish stew would probably work well - you can do mussels, clams, fish, even scallops and shrimp in that. You can do a pasta dish with mixed seafood, too.
Start with lobster bisque and fried calamari or crab cakes or shrimp cocktail.
All great ideas. I'm definitely leaning toward either a one dish dish - pasta, paella or gumbo - or a handful of apps rather than a meal with several courses.
We do this every Christmas eve ( we are italian though) and last year scaled it back since I had just had a baby. We did a seafood lasagna with shrimp, scallops, crab and then a smoked salmon appetizer, lobster bisque and some tilapia
