Australia electronics question

I was thinking of buying my DH a Keurig for Christmas, but we are moving to Australia in June. I think we'd need to use a converter in order to use it over there. I did this in China occasionally with certain things, like my hand mixer I brought over... but I didn't use that all the time.

Is it a bad idea to buy a Keurig to be used with a converter over there? In China it was fine but I know my friend blew out her Kitchenaid mixer doing that over there. thoughts?
