I have a hillside covered with vinca vines. (Periwinkle) We're zone 5, west of Denver.
When we moved in 4 years ago, it was about 3' high and we yanked it out, finding piles of trash, yard tools, even a fire extinguisher completely hidden in there.
The hill is/was also home to a mature apple, crabapple, and 4 plum trees-and their shoots. (The plums are being removed for the most part)
I have different plans for plants on the hillside under the apple & crabapple, and completely different ideas for the area where we're removing most of the plum.
But, the vinca will.not.die. It just keeps coming back. I was told to spray Roundup or something, but I don't want to harm my fruit trees.
It will eventually die but you have to keep ripping it out by the root. I started early in the spring, before it could really catch on. It took me about 5 years to get rid of ALL of it by my front door! I never even planted it; it fell from a planter on the porch!
