We hired a pet sitter for last weekend through a service. She came Friday night and saturday night and stayed in our house with the dog. The service charges like $85/night for this.
If its throught a service you should probably tip since you don't know what their cut is. However if I knew they were making at least $50/night, I might not tip because that is how much I would pay an independant person.

We have a pet sitter come twice a day for our cats. He owns the business but his rates are super cheap and he goes above and beyond what is necessary often so we tip about 20% rounding up to an even amount. If he just fed the cats, played a little, and scooped boxes we probably wouldn't tip since he owns the business but he sends us videos/photos, stays extra of needed since we have a shy cat and he won't leave until he has had a good look at all of them to verify health and does a great job cleaning. He always vaccumms and will make sure all dishes clean (will even clean a last minte water glass I threw in sink on way out lol)
WE have a petsitter that comes once a day for our cats while we are on vacation, and he is awesome. I usually tip him an extra days pay, but that is because we love him.

I worked as a dog walker/pet sitter through a service. I worked for the (rumored-to-be) most "generous" in the city, regarding how much of the client's fee actually went to me.
The company charged $15 for a 30-minute walk, I got $10; $25 for a one-hour walk; I got $15. They charged $50 for an overnight visit, I got $40, I think.
