How are your holiday happenings going? Chanukah go(ing?) well? Are your Christmas trees wrapped? Does anyone here celebrate a different holiday (Kwanza, Las Posadas, etc)?
I just wanted to pop on here to wish everyone a very happy holidays. My wish for you is the same for us: that we are able to take it all in, enjoy it, and not judge how far from our ideal we are.
Are we ready? Not even close. L was sick all last week and i just got caught up with laundry. Everyones presents are still in shopping bags and they might be given that way. Zucchini cut up the christmas dress she begged me to buy and may be wearing her school uniform christmas day. I am only half joking. Carrot and pumpkin have diarrhea. Carrot,s old foster mom has a new placement and isnt returning her phone calls.
But they are here. And safe. And even though they have been more full of hateful words than ever before, know we love them.

No presents are wrapped yet in my house. But they are all purchased and have arrived. Wrapping hopefully tonight and/or Sunday night after E is in bed.
My biggest time sink is the sugar cookies I make every year. And of course they can't be made too far in advance, so I'll have to bake tomorrow and frost on Sunday. However I think my brother might not come over if I did not make them, so it's kind of a must. And heck they are delicious if I do say so myself.
I'm looking forward to spending the holiday with E and the awesome excitement of it through her eyes. It's our first Christmas in our new home and I am so happy to have A joining us. My parents and brother/SIL will be over and it will be great to have all of us together.

We don't really celebrate Christmas unless we're with family that does. I told C months ago that all I wanted for Christmas was a baby. She pointed out that she took care of that and is off the hook. In reality we don't have extra money for gifts, but we're excited about the time off together.

We decorated our house (well, as much as we do, which is pretty much the tree) the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love to get it set up early! We're at my ILs' for the weekend, so we've already started celebrating with them. Drove through a storm to get here yesterday afternoon. SIL and her GF are probably getting here sometime around lunch, and we'll be exchanging presents with them tonight.
My wife is working on Christmas Eve so I'll be doing a little wrapping and probably some baking. We do have all of his presents wrapped except for one thing, but I still have to wrap my wife's gifts.
We are doing the world's lowest key Christmas. C and I are celebrating together tomorrow, and we each have a few gifts for each other. Tomorrow afternoon we fly to Massachusetts to my mom's house. We're all going to church together on Christmas Eve, and we'll do small presents for my niece Christmas morning.
We're a multicultural family, so we celebrate a ton of holidays as a family, which makes each individual holiday more low key. It's pretty nice from my perspective. Christmas is our only December holiday though.
