HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY
1. Where did you go? 2. How long? 3. Would you recommend it? 4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything?
We didn't have a honeymoon so we are planning on taking our "honeymoon" for our 5yr anniversary...which is not until Feb 2014...
I kind of have a one track mind when it comes to vacations {beach & fishing}... so coming up w/ new ideas is difficult.
We are sort of open to non-beach related trips, but I think it's going to be hard to sell a non-beach trip to us.
I think our budget will be around 5k {obviously, less is better, but we can save that w/o eating ramen every night}.
Our honeymoon was supposed to be to Costa Rica, so we are thinking about that - Any other places you suggest that we check out? We aren't interested in The Bahamas, or Jamaica.

1. We went to Pagosa Springs, Colorado and flew into Santa Fe, NM so we spent a night/day there on each end. 2. We went for 8 nights. 3. Yes, it was perfect. We rented a house on lots of land, spent our mornings relaxing by the fire, and the afternoons skiing. The mountain, wolf creek gets the most snow in the US. It's not a tourist trap like other places. It is not a resort, so just good for skiing. The town Pagosa Springs is what Vail would have been like years ago before it got popular. At night we went to the hot springs, drank wine and soaked in the natural springs (they're outside and some even part of the river.). If you don't ski, you could snow mobile and do other winter sports. 4. We would not do anything differently. The trip was the perfect Blend of activity and relaxation and not touristy which we like. It is pretty remote so there isn't much going on. If you are looking for night life this isn't your place. And If you don't ski, you might not like it either. Though I think in the summer this would be up your alley - fly fishing, hunting, hiking, etc.
1. We went to Maui, and rented a condo from vrbo.com on the beach. It was less than a hotel, had all ammenities (kitchen, living room, bedroom and laundry in unit). We did a zipline tour, a catamaran (with 3 other couples) and a bunch of other things. 2. 10 days 3. In a heartbeat. We plan on going back on either our 5th or 10th anniversary (depending on if I get pregnant in the next year). 4. We spent the last two days in Honolulu. It was like a city with a beach, and we'd rather spend time on the smaller islands.
Happy Memorial Day to you, too! Are you working today?
I will have a different spin maybe, since I insist on living in sin for all of eternity (mwahahahaha!)
Our idea is to go on a cruise for our honeymoon. (Although Moonstone's honeymoon sounds amazing...I just don't think that FI would be interested in all that. I would love that, even though I am still a bunny when it comes to skiing - My first time I purpose ran into the side of the hill/slope so that I wouldn't go so fast. Then I would have to take off the my skiis and readjust each time.)
1. Where did you go? We'd like to do: Royal Caribbean, 7-day Cruise to Caribbean. I'm not interested in the Bahamas, either but one takes you to St. Maartens and Haiti (not the destroyed part). I think I would love to see the history. FWIW, I could definitely be talked into something else. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise. 2. How long? 7 days. 3. Would you recommend it? 4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything?
I will say that we took a long weekend to South Beach (before kids) in February. It wasn't too warm, there was almost no one one the beach, but there were still decent restaurants (such a selection of vegan food there!) and, if it hasn't been for my until-then-unknown allergy to cats, it would have been perfect. We stayed with friends, so it was also supah cheap.
1. Where did you go? Costa Rica 2. How long? 1 week 3. Would you recommend it? Yes! 4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything? Other than staying longer to go up to Arenal Volcano, no. We had reservations to go up to the volcano, but were having such a fun time where we were at, we decided to skip it especially since there is only a 10% chance of seeing it.
We went on a cruise to Roatan, Cozumel, Belize & grand cayman. It was our first cruise & completely enjoyed it. Since then, we've been on cruises with better ports. I think you'd be happy with any island though. There's always plenty of beaches & fishing at any of them. They're all gorgeous. My favorite so far was St. Kitts.

1. Where did you go? St. Lucia-- one of the 3 Sandals resorts there 2. How long? 6 or 7 days 3. Would you recommend it? yes! 4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything? Nope, it was everything a honeymoon should be, we really liked it.

We went to St Thomas for a week, it was really nice but it didn't feel like much more than any of our other tropical vacations. We scaled back on our honeymoon because we were building a house and needed the extra money for closing, but I really wish we had done something more - like Sandals!
We're also beach people and had a beach wedding, and I don't remember why we wanted something different for our honeymoon. Maybe after planning a beach wedding, we really needed something different, LOL. We ended up doing something of a road trip; honestly I think there was just something very appealing about waking up on that Monday morning and just getting in the car and going whenever we damn wanted.
1. Where did you go? Started with a couple nights in Savannah, then a few nights in the Smoky Mountains, then a few nights at Disney World.
2. How long? I guess it was about 10-12 nights? I don't remember exactly.
3. Would you recommend it? Absolutely. We had a great time. It was a little of this and a little of that, stopping where we wanted on the way. We even stopped at Ikea in Atlanta (this was before the Tampa and Orlando stores were even a rumor), and we loaded up our car.
4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything? I would rather spend a few more nights in Savannah than in the mountains. Turns out I'd rather walk all day in a city than in nature.

We did an all inclusive in Jamaica, so that doesn't help.
What about something like San Fran and Napa?? I am dying to go to both places and they are pretty close. You are still near the beach but there is also alot to do there, and I'm pretty sure you like wine??

Chris won't go for a cruise, and the only cruise I'd like to do is an Alaskan cruise - but I don't want to do it so much i'm ready to drop that much money on it.
I've looked at pretty much every island that's been mentioned; Aruba, St. Lucia, St. Thomas... Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but it looks like Sandals is the only resort in St. Lucia, is this right?
Right now I'm looking at Grand Cayman, it looks lovely, and sting ray city is VERY intriguing! It's relatively cheap to fly to GC -
Obviously we have a TON of time, but I want to check out everything.
I went to Grand Cayman. My FIL has a time share there so we used that. It was my fifth time visiting GC (I think), and I love it every time. We stayed for a week and I would definitely recommend it. Stingray City is awesome. The boats to take you out there leave from Rum Point, which is also a cute place to hang out - we usually snorkel at Stingray City then have lunch and spend the rest of the day at Rum Point.

Man, I want to go back. I need some beach in my life.
However, if we had had more $$$ to spend on our honeymoon we wanted to go to the Anse Chastanet resort in St.Lucia. Another time, perhaps!
oooo, I'm going to stalk your blog now!
I'm really going to research GC. I would LOVE to go to Stingray City, that is so awesome!
I think I almost just killed Chris when I told him how much i was planning on spending for this trip =) He has no clue how much anything costs, so his idea of what we should spend is a little unrealistic for an all-inclusive/international flight kind of trip.
Let's see if I can do this with my left thumb... We went to Maui. FIL and Step Mom gave us their week of time share for a wedding gift. We could pick anywhere and they would pay the transfer fee. So we figured when would be the next time we'd have room and board paid for in Hawaii and booked our flight. We were gone from Saturday to Saturday. Our last day was a 12 hour layover in Honolulu and we drive the entire perimeter of the island stopping along the way. The North Shore was awesommmmme (waves were starting for the season and the surfing was fantastic to watch while chilling on the beaches). Waikiki was cool but I wouldn't want to stay there. North Shore is a place I could spend an eternity. Oh yeah, and we started out 12 hours on the Big Island with a Pearl Harbor tour. Maui is cool, relaxing. Local spots. We did the volcano Haleakala, the crater Molakini, a luau, drove the Road to Hana, Big Beach, and this other place where they filmed Jurassic Park that I can't remember what it's called. We loved the brewery, and a couple places on Front Street. I loved our honeymoon and wouldn't have done anything differently. My soul yearns to go back. If you love island life you should try and go. It's the most isolated land mass in the world and 95% of the fauna is unique to the islands. Flowers are everywhere. It just smells like an orchid. Ahhh I love it there!!
We started out at Disney for the weekend. Then we went to Breckenridge, Colorado to go Skiing and then spent a few nights in Denver.
2. How long?
If I remember correctly, our whole time including Disney was about a week and a half.
3. Would you recommend it?
Absolutely! We loved playing in the snow and the skiing was great. Plus we were able to sit by the fireplace and cuddle!
4. If you could re-plan your honeymoon, would you change anything?
Maybe a couple's massage or something! Skiing definitely made our bodies sore! We also went to the Zoo during Winter. While it was fun, it was really cold and we didn't get to see the animals active. They were all inside and looking very unhappy because they couldn't roam.

I'm sure this isn't the first time you've heard this, but: "WTG with just your left thumb!"
