So. A) Yes, I do pants underneath the snowpants, but not in the car. They'll get too hot and it's too bulky. Only when you're ready to go out the door to play or you're at your destination. B) I like Target's snowboots that look sort of like LL Bean, with the ridgey black fronts and the nylon-y uppers. Honestly, they just won't get a ton of wear, even in Chicago. You don't want or need to spend a lot. I double up on socks if we're sledding or going to be out a long time. C) It's really hard to keep gloves on. My rule of thumb is, if the 2 yr old is cold enough, they have the sense to leave them on Mine will not fuss with them if we're out and about and busy playing. In the stroller they'll take them off.
E unties his shoes & will pull off socks & hats. I'm thinking it's going to take a miracle to keep his gloves on.
Would thermal pj pants work? I think I've seen them at Target - hopefully I'm not too late and can find his size. I need to check out their boots, too.
Yes, thermals are perfect. What are your plans outside? It really depends on what we're doing. When we're sledding, they'll keep hats and boots and gloves on. Just sitting in the stroller? Nope. But if they get cold they'll ask for them
Thermal pjs will work. That is basically what we use, or a pair of fleece pants. We've gotten Target boots too. I like fleece mittens the majority of the time. DS loves the shark ones I got at children's place. We use waterproof ones from Land's End for sledding (the one time we had enough snow in MA to go last year) and ice skating. Target may have the mittens too, I jsut catch them on Land's End when on super sale.

Dd would wear gloves when playing outside. She loves playing outside and I make her wear them in order to play.
Last year dd had some light up disney princess boots from kohls. This year she has Totes brand. They both work well. I find the totes ones less obnoxious. Some of the cheaper brands don't seem as warm.
I put leggings or thermals underneath. I don't buy any special socks. I just always make sure to buy boots that are warm and can snugly tuck the snow pants into.
