D has never taken a pacifier. I tried when he was little, but he never cared for them. No big deal, I figured it was one less habit to break down the line.
Recently, D has been chewing on the nipple of his bottle. He's not really interested in drinking more, but just wanting to chew. Thus, making a mess with the milk (& wasting quite a bit). This happens especially at bedtime.
Yesterday, I thought to try the pacifier again. It was exactly what he wanted. He chewed & sucked on it for a little bit, then fell fast asleep. It worked like a charm all day today too.
Is this strange at almost 7 months old that he's now taking a paci? Do you think it may be harder, easier or the same to break the habit down the line?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Do what works best for you. Lila was a paci baby. She had to have her paci at all times. It was harder on me than it was on her to break her of it, but I did it kind of early, at 14/15mos. My plan was to let her have it until 18mos but I realized that she didn't need it anymore. I will miss that paci face
I don't think that is abnormal. As for breaking a habit, the girls had "bobos" from the NICU on. We started using them only gor bed a few months ago and now they hardly ever want them (they both used one to take a nap today since they are not feeling the best.)

Drew gets it at bedtime to fall asleep but once he spits it out when he's asleep we don't put it back in until the next day. I'm *hoping* this helps break the habit eventually. He's all about it though.

I miss seeing the adorable pictures of her with the paci.
T was always a paci baby but gave that and being up within 24 hours of one another. It might just be a phase. I wouldn't be so concerned about breaking the habit unless he becomes obsessive, if he is using it to self sooth right now so be it.

I wouldn't worry. I wish Kennedy would have taken one. She sucks her fingers. At least with a pacifier you can take them away. I feel like I'll have the only high schooler sucking her fingers. Caleb has already started sucking the same fingers, but on the other hand. I need to take care of that ASAP. Maybe I'll try the pacifier again.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it either. My kids both only used them early on, but that was when they needed it, and obviously now is when D needs one. I have no idea about breaking the habit though, mine just quit using theirs when they didn't need them anymore.
