To spinoff the "what gifts were a hit" post, what weird gifts did you or LO get?
I'll go first. Apparently my dad, who has never really ben "into babies" could only think of one thing DS (10 months) would like: music boxes. So DS got five of them, each of them completely different in a random way. A snowglobe with an angel in it, a wooden rocking horse that rocks when you turn the key, a vintage santa who smokes a pipe (the arm moves), a Nutcracker Suite finger puppet set which plays music, and a dome with a Wizard of Oz scene in it. I have no idea where I'm going to store all of them! They're all fragile, DS can't play with them

DS got a miniature piano from ILs. It looks nice, but sounds like out of tune wind chimes. I didn't expect real piano sounds to come from it, but I expected something different than wind chimes.

My mom sent DS the FP little people nativity set. She knows we aren't religious and I haven't been to church in 15 years. Luckily DS likes to play with the animals.

All DD Gifts were normal. MIL bought her ugg-style boots but the size is for a 3-4 yr old. She is 1. And she also bought her a headband - also for an older child. It is metal. I dont think it will last on her head for more than 2 minutes.

My brother has given DS very expensive toy trucks the past two years, and I think he expects me to hand them down to his kid. That's a) weird, b) rude, and c) not going to happen.
I would hand down the trucks but we aren't going to be done with them for awhile since we're having more kids and DS is so rough on them I don't think they'll survive.

DS2 got a vtech garage and car set. Vtech toys tend to be really annoying and we generally avoid them. The police car sings two songs with the lyric "on my way to the crime scene". The first time we heard it DH and I had a WTH moment.
My grandma sent ds one of those fleece blankets with the fringe. It has a picture of animals in a boat or something and it says "all aboard!" On it. Except the text is backwards. Like we'd need a mirror to read it. Weird. It's in the donation pile.

My parents (mom really) bought my kids a huge play table with four chairs. She knows we have a little house and no room for big kid things. I'm not sure if she is trying to get us to buy a new house or if she meant for the table to stay at her house.
My MIL was *so excited* to give us a new doorbell as she hates our current one (it sounds like it's had better days). Well, our new doorbell now plays different songs when you ring it! I didn't even open it yet, but I know the one that she has is very similar and I *hate* it. But it's not my house, so I would never say anything. But now it's going to be installed in *my* house! UGH!!! I'm praying there's a simple "ding-dong" ring we can use the 99% of the time that she's not at our house, because I don't like tacky! She was soooooooo proud and excited about it too... she's all "I went on the internet and found it!" (she's not tech savvy by any means). She even told us it cost over $60?!?!?! Spending that kind of money on tacky just makes me cringe.
However, they made up for it by buying us the best gift ever.... a generator that runs off natural gas is going to be installed in my house come spring!!!
