Instead of steaming food with a pot and basket, put fresh veggies in a glass dish with about 2tablespoons of water, cover with a lid, and microwave 4 minutes.
Want a good way to store christmas lights without them getting tangled?
Take old newspaper and roll them up and tape them into a tube/cylinder. Wrap your lights around the tube and then you can store them without having a tangled mess next season.
I do this with paper towel rolls. Then you can tuck the ends into the tube. Works great.
I use my paper towel tubes to keep the wires behind my electronics organized.
I donate the tubes from the toilet paper rolls to the local zoo. I don't know why/what they use them for but every since they asked for them, that's where they go.

To help unclog a drain, dump baking soda down the drain and then vinegar. Let it sit for a little while and add more baking soda and vinegar and then pour boiling water down the drain. I do this in our shower drain every other week to keep things moving along.
keep dryer sheets that have been used for one cycle of drying in your desk drawer. if you get static cling, rub the dryer sheet all over your legs and walla.
Careful with the wooden spoon over a pot of water trick if you have a gas stove. The spoon will burn if the flame is too high. Er, not that I'd know anything about that or anything.
If you're measuring honey or molasses or something sticky, spray the measuring cup with Pam so that the sticky substance won't stick to the cup.

This also works for when your hair gets staticky!
You can also put a dab of lotion on your hands and rub them on your hair, belly, nylons, whatev to eliminate static.
Today I am putting different colored circles on the back of all the puzzles the kids got for Xmas with markers. When they dump out 10 puzzles at once, I'll know which ones go together.
Use a straw to core strawberries, push up from the non stem side.

They use them for environmental enrichment. You stuff the rolls with shredded paper or hay/grass and food or treats. The animal then tears through the toilet paper roll and digs through the paper or hay to get to the food.
It's used to encourage natural foraging behavior that animals would use in the wild. You can also use cereal boxes - or any cardboard box for that matter. I've seen them used for rats, birds, primates, large mammals, and everything in between.
Use magic erase to clean your shower. It's amazing at getting rid of soap scum. (I've heard of using rain-ex on your glass shower doors to prevent scummy doors - haven't tied it yet)
Use 1 C. of white vinegar as fabric softener. Your clothes WILL NOT smell like vinegar and they will be soft.
Want to save space in your freezer? When freezing soups, put the soup in a Ziplock bag and lay flat on a cookie sheet. When all the bags are frozen, remove the cookie sheet and then stack the frozen bags of soup on top of each other.
Live in a snowy climate? Bring your snowbrush inside instead of leaving it in your car. When it's time to go, you can brush all the snow off your car instead of opening the door and having snow fall inside your car.
Store your ketchup and mustard bottles upside down so there's no watery mess when you go to use them next.
Store your flat & fitted sheets inside a pillow case so your sets are always together.
Paint the head of your house/apartment key in glow in the dark paint. If you come home in the dark, you'll alway be able to find your key.
the best way to remove pen and ink from your hands is to get a hearty liquid soap and smoosh it all over your hands for a minute or so, scrubbing with your nails, WITHOUT WATER. then rinse.
Hold your drink in your left hand at parties. Then you can shake hands with your right
Along these lines, wear your nametag on your right shoulder so that when the person leans in to shake your hand, your name is right in front of them.
Also, don't wear big rings on your right hand if you're going to be shaking hands all night. One good squeeze by an over zealous hand shaker can bring you to your knees. It hurts if someone squeezes your hand really hard.
