The ones I want ALWAYS have a waitlist. Fine. So I add my name. Never fails that 3 or 4 all become available at the same time. And then there is no way I can finish them all, so inevitably I have to re-add my name to several lists and wait again. I'm assuming this is happening to everyone and no wonder every book at a list of about 50 people. We all have to wait 3-4 tries before we actually can read it.
Yep, this pretty much always happens to me. I just started reading the Dresden Files series because there really isn't a waiting list for the series and if there is, it's not a long list. Also, I breeze right through them.

Same thing happened to me this week with my library reserve list. Some things I have been waiting months for. I have added new books in an attempt to get 1 to read. More months. All 10 books came up all within days of each other lol I'm doing my best to work through them.
If you dl them all and then turn your wifi off until you're done, can you keep it that way? I know if I lend a friend a book and she turns off her wifi, she can continue to read it until she finally turns the wifi on. It might be different with library lending... I haven't used that functionality yet

The same thing happens to me and it drives me crazy. I wish there was a way to let the next person get the book and you stay next in line, but no, of course overdrive wouldn't set anything useful like that up.

Yup, if you turn your wifi off, you can keep the book longer. I've done it with Overdrive library books.
My library only lets you have 3 ebooks / audiobooks on your waiting list and three book checked out at once so that definitely helps some. Because then even if they all come in at once it is only three of them!
I try to guesstimate how long I'll have to wait for each title based on how many copies there are and how many people are on the waiting list, but basically it's still just a crapshoot. I'm waiting for a few right now and I just know they're all going to come available at the same time.
The WiFi thing does work, though. That can buy you a few extra days if you already have everything on your ereader.
Yep, this always happens. I just keep signing up again and again until the stars align. I guess it helps if you sign up for one a week as opposed to all at the same time, but that doesn't always work either.
