Were the sellers making any fixes post-inspection? If so make sure that they fixed them, get receipts and if anything wasn't done right, make them escrow money for repairs. We botched this and now we're stuck with something that wasn't fixed right. It's a bummer.
You might want to bring a second form of ID - I thought you needed two forms unless you were bringing a passport. Might be regional, but I thought it was a patriot act thing.
Thanks! Closing went smoothly. They had a few fixes to make post inspection, but they decided to give us a credit instead.
Overall it took about 1.5 hours. Our lawyer explained each sheet, then we signed it.
sellers lawyer did the same thing for them. Other people there: both real estate agents, and our mortgage person. It took place at a title company, and that was who we needed to make the certified check to. I was concerned because they could only give us an estimated number for that check. We just made it out for a few hundred over, and they gave us a check back at the end of closing once the final numbers were calculated. That may be a special case because of the holiday weekend though.
Actually that sounds just like our closing. They had us make it for a larger amount because they weren't sure and cut us a check right afterwards for the overage. Congrats!
