We didn't start sending solids to daycare until he was 9.5 months. By then he had mastered the pincher grab. Our daycare had no problem letting him feed himself but they require bite size pieces or smaller.

Lol yeah. However I'm later than most of MMM when it comes to solids. We could have started sooner at DC I was just nervous about it.
You can also send things like thick mashed foods so the baby can still feed themselves. You could ask that they do a loaded spoon. Also ask your DC, they might be fine with finger sizes pieces.

I think it really depends on the daycare. My daycare wasn't big on purees, for example. They'd serve them if requested but really focused on finger foods, which was fine with me. (I didn't do BLW but my kid moved past purees to big meals of varied solids really quickly.)
I did BLW but didn't read the book. Someone posted a link here to a brochure that I printed out and took to DC. It explained all the basics and they hung it on the wall. I started sending food around 7 months and sent stuff I was comfortable that DD wouldn't choke on. I also sent baby oatmeal for them to spoon feed her for extra iron.

We just asked them to let her feed herself. We also said it was okay if she did not end up eating much, they did not need to force/pressure her to eat.
