My maternal grandparents were from huge families. Grandpa was one of 17 (that lived - 1 died) They used to have to do meals in rounds because the table wasn't big enough. Grandma had like 10 siblings I think.
My MIL has 9 siblings. DH's family alone made up like 120 people on our guest list for our wedding. (Almost all of MIL's siblings have 3 or 4 kids.)

My grandfather was one of 17, but not all lived. They were a farming family, and I guess it was pretty common. Sure, it's another mouth to feed, but it's also another pair of hands!
My moms aunts and uncles (and their kids, and now their kids) have huge families. I worked with one of the wives, and she had been married for 5 years, and had gotten her period once during that time. Last I knew she was on number 5.
My grandma is one of 22. But her dad had 3 kids born in the same month.
