that's about how Squirms is still at almost 6 months! I think every baby is different though.
Squirms eats about 7 times a day, about 28oz a day the last couple of weeks.
She typically naps between every bottle, about twice a week she'll skip one of those naps. But most days she takes 5 or 6 naps. Most are about 30 minutes, once a day she'll take a 60-90 minute nap, very rarely a 2 hour one.
yeah I just do what the baby likes I'm a little nervous the daycare provider is gonna be like "your baby naps HOW many times a day??" but she's been doing this for 30 years, I'm sure it won't shock her.
My DD is 5 months. And she is still taking 3 to 4 naps a day anywhere between half an hour to an hour and a half and sleeps from about 8/8:30 to 6 am. (I wake her at 6 to feed here). At 3 months I say just keep doing whatever is working for you.
Brie - my dd was sleeping on me or in the Ergo up until I went back to work at 3 months. They said at first it was a little difficult to get her to sleep in her crib, so they would put her in a swing or bouncer. But they told me, don't worry about it we will work her and let her be comfortable and eventually get her to nap in her crib. About a month in they were having no issues getting her to nap in her crib.
It is great that everybody has this support group. It will be hard the first couple days, but come her to cry. There are many shoulders for support.

This is SO comforting to hear, you have no idea. Thank you for sharing.
H and I were joking that E gets all his needed daily sleep overnight. The boy goes down like a champ and maybe wakes up for one feeding, and will sleep until 8 or 9 am, for 12-13 hours of nightly sleep. Then he only catnaps all day. In the beginning he'd take multi-hour naps without a problem. Lately I'm thrilled with a 30-minute nap; 20 minutes is more typical, and obviously doesn't qualify as a true nap.
Since his naps are so short, he takes 4-5 each day: one about an hour after waking, and then the others after being awake 60-90 minutes, typically. The good news is he will nap in his crib if he's not overtired (right now he's napping in his swing because his schedule got completely screwed up (ironically enough) by our daycare orientation today.

I wouldn't stress. Sometimes I think trying to do what the "experts" say is more stressful than just going with the flow. If J is happy then who cares if she takes several small naps rather than Ferber's three 1 hour naps.
I usually get one long nap each day then several shorter ones. Some days its all short and occasionally it will be a couple long.

Agreed. I started reading Ferber and had to stop because I felt like my kid was dooooomed because we use a paci and white noise and rock or nurse to sleep.

Agreed.
I know he is capable of it, he does it for H. I think he knows I'm a softie and secretly love our snuggly carrier naps.
I don't read any books. I read a bit of Happiest Baby Sleep Habits but never finished it. I think I'm just a big fan of winging it and getting advice from MMM when I'm desperate, lol.
I do need to read the BLW book, she is going to be 6 months in two weeks and I am in total denial!!!!!!!!!
Can I join the support group as well? (Longtime TK/TN/TB member and GBCN lurker) My baby is 9 weeks and I go back to work mornings Thursday and full-time again Jan. 14. My husband will have her in the mornings and she'll go to DC in the afternoon. Hoping DC can sort out her disjointed catnapping and no crib sleeping. And hoping I can make it through without a crying meltdown. Hugs all around.
I spoke at length with our DCP yesterday and that put me at ease. We hadn't seen her since October and lots has changed regarding DDs sleeping and eating habits.
Moved our start date til Thursday. I was kind of hoping to send her Wednesday when I'm not working so I could go see a movie, get a pedi, etc. but DCP is going to be out of town. So my first day back to work will be her first day at daycare. I think I'll be too busy at work to really worry at least!
