DS is 10 months old, 26 lbs and 28 inches long. He is on the verge of outgrowing his Jumperoo and I swear I'm gonna cry :-( It's on the highest level and his feet are almost flat. He's been in it every night while I cook dinner since he was 6 months old. Keeps him very happy and contained. He can't crawl around the kitchen as we have open shelves with stuff on them (we rent, so can't change the shelving). He gets bored playing in the PnP before I'm done with dinner.
Is there another baby item that can keep a bigger baby like him contained? Help ya'll!!!
DD is happy to sit in the kitchen with me in a high chair (not actually a high chair, but I don't know what those booster seat thingies are called) as long as she can see me and I interact with her. Would that work for you?

Sorry to say but it all went to hell for us when he could walk at 10.5M and was too big for or could break out of any of the above. The high chair worked for short periods of time. Good luck.
What will you do with a toddler? You need to just baby proof and start teaching him what he can play with.
We let her crawl at that age. She was either in the living room with toys or in the kitchen. She could open cabinets, so we direct her interest to a safe cabinet with things she could play with and redirected her if she got in other cabinets. We don't have latches and she does well. She runs around the whole house now (minus bathrooms).
We put up gates and baby proofed to keep them out of breakables and let them roam.
I have a mat in front of the stove that I don't allow the kids on even without permission and I started training them on that before they were 12mo - I just needed to literally keep them out from under my feet.
A cabinet or drawer that they can play with works wonders too.

Just babyproof. DS has free range of the living room/hallway while I cook. Everything is baby proofed. I also have one cabinet in the kitchen with tuperware that he plays with while I cook.

I started baby proofing around then. I borrowed one of those super yards from a friend, so I baby proofed in stages. First just the living room (and baby gated her in there), then gradually the whole downstairs.
